On Wednesday night, I attended the Daniel Pink lecture at Sheslow. It was wonderful. I read Pink's "A Whole New Mind" for my FYS class last year and loved it, so I was anxious to go see this lecture. I was happily impressed as to the practicality of what he was saying. It really hit home for me. Some people told me it was boring, but boy, did I think differently. What I learned (indirectly, mostly) was:
- He, like I, always wanted to get the A in a class, and didn't care about actually learning the subject manner. He regrets it. I should, too.
- Everyone takes different motivation to succeed, and mine is failing.
- Money and rewards are not always the best motivators, which totally shocked me.
So, you could say that I was fully attentive at this lecture. It was more psychology than anything.
Also, I have been thinking about the whole Advertising thing again. I just don't know what to do anymore. Am I wasting my time by majoring in Advertising? Should I get out and move on to something like Magazines, Human Resources, Psychology....the list never ends....
Oh boy, I am in over my head with this.
