Ugh! I found this article today that angered me (People who say Merry Christmas are wrong). First of all, we are NOT wrong to say Merry Christmas. Why? Because Christmas is the only reason the season is called the "Holiday season." I don't want to be politically correct. I would rather be right.
There are many other pagan holidays throughout the year, yet they aren't part of the "holiday season." Christmas is the only "real" holiday most people referred to. Now, with the many other "holidays" during this Christmas season (in my mind, since Christianity is the only real religion, I don't believe Hanukkah and the like really even should exist) I am considered wrong to say Merry Christmas.
The only reason the other "holidays" were invented was to coincide with Christmas. Other religions (since most branch off from the truth that is in Christianity) took the birth of Jesus, tweaked it a little bit, and created their own religions so as to not feel left out. Just like their Bible counterparts mock the Bible, so do their holidays.
It sickens me. Yes, this country was founded on Christian religions and beliefs. I am sure people would form a rebuttal to that consisting of something like:
"Well didn't the pilgrims leave Europe to come to America and have a life with religious freedom?"
Why yes, you are correct. They didn't want to worship under the Church of England (look it up). The Church of England was a very strict Catholic church. My disagreements with Catholicism will come another time, but they were still Christians all the same. They didn't feel the Bible coincided with what was being taught, so they left to practice in a manner more suitable to their beliefs.
It was not until after other immigrants from other nations came when the other non-Christian religions came to America. So if you are going to fight about something like that, look up the facts first.
So if you aren't Christian, just be happy America has religious freedom to let you practice your religion. Be thankful you, too, get CHRISTIAN holidays off from work. You could be living in another country where there is only ONE religion allowed and that's it. If it bothers you so much, live in a different country with the same religion as you. Don't go and pull this "Happy Holidays" card on me.
I am a Merry Christmas person. Like it or not, that what I believe. CHRISTIANITY. I don't find saying Merry Christmas offensive, so don't make me change it.
