Uck: Customer Service

You are now connected to Mani from Amazon.com.
Me:My trade-in order has a status of not yet received and I shipped it over 10 business days ago. It has no tracking information for me to know where it is.

Mani:Hello, my name is Mani. I'll be happy to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you didn't receive the credit yet.
Me:Thank you.
What should I do?
Mani:Please allow me a moment to check the details.
Me:Thank you.
Mani:The current status of Trade-In ID TRN-4799531-5560824 is waiting to receive.
Please wait for few more days to process your Gift card. If you don't receive it by submission date+ 30 days, please contact us so that we can help you right away.
Me:Right. I know it is waiting to be received but that doesn't make sense to me. Could it have been lost in the mail?
It should have arrived by now.
Mani:I understand your concern, Eryn.
Sometimes to speed up the delivery, USPS does not scan all of their shipments at all locations--this can limit the amount of tracking data and reduce the transit time.
So, I'd suggest you to wait to get the Gift card.
Please accept my apologies.
Me:I am less worried about the gift card and more worried about the books that are in noman's land right now.
Mani:I understand your concern, Eryn. If your submission is accepted by the merchant, Amazon Gift Card funds for the quoted amount will be deposited automatically.
Your payment for this item should be issued soon. In the rare case that you wait longer than expected and your Trade-In submission status doesn't change, please contact us [SUBMISSION DATE +30 DAYS] to let us know.
Me:Okay, thank you. [I gave up trying to explain my situation].
Mani:You’re welcome.
Is there anything else I can help you with?
Me:Not at this moment.
Mani:Thanks for visiting Amazon.com. We hope to see you again soon!
It was my pleasure assisting you!
Have a good one!

THIS is why I hate contacting customer service. Mani did not want to help me with my concerns and just gave me an automated response. I was not worried about the Gift Card. I was worried about these books in my trade-in that are probably lost in the mail.

Whenever I complete customer service at work THIS is what I try not to do. I try to listen to what the person is asking and help them on an individual basis.

That being said, if you happen to receive a package on your doorstep with an assortment of textbooks from Eryn Swain, just mark "return to sender" on the box.
