I know I have mentioned this before, but I have really great coworkers at my new internship. They have been so welcoming to me, and treat me like I belong in the marketing department.
For instance, today we were going to have Jimmy John's for lunch, where I would obviously order the #13 with no mayo, but plans changed. We got boxed lunches from a local catering company in Ames, but I didn't get to choose my food. I am fine with a deli sandwich, so it wasn't an issue. By the time I was able to grab a lunch, all that was left was prosciutto, and since I had never tried it before, I gave it a shot. Not for me. Apparently prosciutto is raw ham, which makes it slimy and tasteless.
A few hours later when someone was throwing away all the boxes, someone showed me my "special" vegetarian wrap that was ordered for me. I can't believe someone went out of their way to order a vegetarian meal for me. I can't even explain how great it made me feel to see that little untouched box with my name on it. Unfortunately, it was just thrown away because I missed it, but it was the thought that counted. And still counts.
Even when we had our company night at the zoo last night, I failed to introduce my guests to almost everyone (It was just Kaila and Kody, anyway). My wonderful coworkers would introduce themselves to Kaila and Kody and start conversations. I apparently have no manners and can't introduce my guests, but they didn't seem to mind.
There are very few places in my life that I fit in, and I know that. I feel so blessed to have found a place where I am welcomed and appreciated.
