Trickery?

In our student center on-campus, there is a student group that posted signs all over campus that read "free food." This student group is a Christian organization on-campus that really has no food to offer. They are running a social experiment whereby people who show up for the free food are actually "sold" into sex slavery.

Sitting here by the location of the "free food," I have noticed many things.

  • I don't think trickery was the best method to use in this case
  • Many people HATE the idea behind this and don't understand the purpose behind awareness of sex slavery
  • People are really possessive of their food
  • I have heard more curse words in this half hour than probably any half hour of my entire life
  • Many people run away when they find there is no food because they don't want a "sold" sticker on their bodies
This is a social experiment gone wrong. Many people are showing up because everyone wants free food. However, why not tie this in to a food-related cause to raise awareness of food instead? I understand the horrible act of sex slavery and I understand that it is a horrible act. However, they are "selling" people into slavery and giving little information about sex slavery at all. It saddens me because this is a great cause that went horribly wrong.
