Things you learn about the real world but are not on your resume...

I realized there are many things I have learned from my various internships that I would otherwise not have learned throughout my academics.

1. People don't read rules/contracts/legal information - It is crazy to see how many people are quick to complain when something doesn't go as they would have planned, only for that to be in some sort of contractual document. I have seen far too many cases of angry people who didn't read the basic "terms of use" to know that they have no reason to complain in the first place. I have since begun reading (or at least skimming) all "terms of use" and privacy policies I enter into.
2. People are quick to blame others - (See above.) When something isn't working, the last thing many people do is think they are the problem. "Well YOUR site is broken." "YOU need to fix my mistake now." Sometimes, the fault is completely theirs, yet they don't want to believe it. In today's society, people always point fingers at others for the blame instead of taking it themselves.
3. The quality of schooling is much more important than the quantity - While I have seen some very intelligent people attain high-level degrees, I realize that it is more about what you get out of the schooling you do attain that states how educated you are. I am learning that attending a private university was definitely the best thing for me. Seeing many of my equivalent state school counterparts, I realize how great of a school Drake really is. I wouldn't trade all those loans in for a state school education any day.
4. Having a desire to learn will take me far - Attaining a new job (or internship) is such a humbling experience for me. I feel like I have so much to offer a company until I realize how much I have yet to learn. I am so glad I have a strong desire to learn more and to ask questions, because it has served me well so far. I enjoy being one of the first in the office and one of the last to leave.
5. Being a morning person is ideal for me - Having an internship almost an hour's drive from my house made me realize how great it works for me to be a morning person. I can wake up very early and still be one of the first people in the office. My hatred for being late amplifies this, and definitely brings a great start to my day. Heck, if I am feeling really motivated, I even workout before work. 

I am sure there are so many more things that I will compile at a later date. I am so thankful for the great experiences I have been blessed to have thus far in life. I know God is ready to bring on some challenges for me in the future.
